R.L. Stine, the bestselling horror writer and creator of Goosebumps, has signed a multi-volume deal with BOOM! Studios for original graphic novels aimed at middle grades readers.  The four book series of supernatural horror will be published under the KaBOOM! imprint and be in stores starting in February 2019.

“I'm so lucky to have been able to scare so many generations of kids,” said Stine.  “Now I feel lucky to be going just beyond Goosebumps to a whole new medium of fright and chilling laughs.  I'm hoping that BOOM! is the sound of an explosion of fun in a whole new world for me."

Stine has more than 400 million books in print worldwide and is best known for his children’s horror series Goosebumps, which launched in 1992 and inspired television series, merchandise, video games, movies, and more (see “'Goosebumps' Tops, 'Crimson Peak' Flop”).  Stine and his creations have been making several forays into comics of late.  IDW Publishing has been releasing comics inspired by Goosebumps (see “Comic Series Will Give Readers 'Goosebumps'”).  Stine also wrote Marvel’s Man-Thing miniseries  (see “Horror Author R.L. Stine Leads New Marvel Miniseries”).  The deal with BOOM! marks the first time that Stine will bring new concepts to comics.
