Kochalka Tweeted a colorized image announcing the release of the 20th Anniversary edition in 2020. The deceptively simple Monkey Vs. Robot story was first published by Top Shelf Productions in 2000. It follows a group of self-replicating robots who are stripping the nearby jungle of natural resources who run afoul of a colony of monkeys living there. The humorous encounters present a serious look of the dual nature of human existence, technology and progress vs. the affects on the natural environment.
The prolific Kochalka has published many series will Top Shelf, Alternative Comics, Drawn and Quarterly, and First Second. He won an Eisner Award in 2012 for Dragon Puncher 2: Dragon Puncher Island (see “24th Annual Eisner Award Winners”), and won a Harvey Award for Best Online Comics Work in 2006 (see “Marvel Wins Five Harveys”).
