Based on the card game Machi Koro, the new game builds a narrative arc that follows the development of the game city through multiple games. Machi Koro Legacy uses many of the same mechanical elements as the original game, such as rolling dice, collecting income, and building landmarks, but with the addition of story elements that call upon the players to make decisions that will introduce permanent changes to the game.
The legacy elements were developed by Rob Daviau (Pandemic Legacy) and JR Honeycutt (Fireball Island), overseen by Machi Koro’s original designer Masao Suganuma. The family-friendly narrative develops over a series of ten linked games.
Machi Koro Legacy will feature all-new artwork from Nobura Hotta, who produced the artwork in the original game. It is designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up. Each game in the series will take about 30 to 45 minutes to play. MSRP is $49.95.
Machi Koro Legacy was originally expected to release this spring when it was announced last year (see “‘Machi Koro Legacy’”).
In June, Pandasaurus will release Dead Man’s Cabal (see “It’s Party Time, So Raise the Dead in ‘Dead Man’s Cabal’”).
