Tal der Wikinger from HABA has won the prestigious Kinderspiel des Jahres (or Children's Game of the Year) award for 2019.

Known in English as Valley of the Vikings, the game has players rolling a ball to knock over color-coded barrels.  Results of the roll determine where their Vikings are placed on the dock.  Gold is won by assuming more risk, but if a Viking gets too far out and falls into the water, they get nothing.

Tal der Wikinger outlasted Fabulantica from Pegasus Spiele and Go Gecko Go! from Zoch. (See "‘Spiel des Jahres’ Announces 2019 Nominees").  This marks the second consecutive year HABA has taken home the prize, having won for Dragon’s Breath in 2018 (see "‘Dragon’s Breath’ Wins 2018 ‘Kinderspiel des Jahres’").

Winners of the Spiel des Jahres and Kennerspiel des Jahres will be announced next month.
