Pandasaurus Games, co-owned by Molly Wardlaw and Nathan McNair, revealed that it has acquired Wingspan designer Elizabeth Hargrave's next game.   Hargrave’s Wingspan, published by Stonemaier Games (see "Stonemaier Broadens Its ‘Wingspan’”), won the 2019 Kennerspiel des Jahres award, given to games intended for gaming connoisseurs, and sold through quickly at launch in March. Past winners of the Kennerspiel des Jahres award include Isle of Skye (2016), Istanbul (2014), and 7 Wonders (2011) (see "'Isle of Skye'", "'Istanbul Big Box'", and also, "'Qwirkle' Wins 2011 'Spiel Des Jahres'").

Although details on the theme or content of the new game were sparse, Hargrave offered a hint in her comment on the collaboration.  "I’m very excited to be working with Pandasaurus on this game," she said.  "It’s based on a story I fell in love with the first time I heard it, and I think gamers will too."

Pandasaurus co-owner Wardlaw described the company’s reaction to the deal.   "This is a dream collaboration for Nathan and I—we are major Wingspan fans," she said.  "Naturally, we are champing at the bit to make this brilliant, innovative design come to life."
