Steamforged Games is adding another “Mega Boss” to its Dark Souls – The Board Game with the release of the Manus, Father of the Abyss Expansion on October 12.

Standing watch over the depths of the Abyss, Manus corrupts the souls of great heroes and condemns them to that lightless place.  The Manus, Father of the Abyss Expansion gives players an opportunity to confront this Mega Boss in battle, featuring new boss behaviors and battle mechanics.  The expansion also includes new encounter cards that players can use to create larger battles.

Manus, Father of the Abyss comes with one unpainted miniature depicting the creature, its Health Dial and Data card, 14 Boss Behavior cards, 2 Treasure cards, 4 Level 4 Encounter cards, 1 Mega Boss game board, and rules in five languages.  A copy of the base game in needed to play.  MSRP is $69.95.

Launched in 2017 (see “Preview:  ‘Dark Souls:  The Board Game’”) has been a solid hit for Steamforged, ranking number 9 on ICv2’s top-selling board games last fall (see “Top 10 Hobby Channel Board Games--Fall 2019”).  This new Mega Boss was not included in the game’s highly successful Kickstarter offering, which still ranks in the top 10 largest Kickstarter campaigns for a table top game (see “‘Frosthaven’ Kickstarter Raises Nearly $13 Million”).
