Heritage Auctions sold a Pokemon TCG 1st Edition Base Set Sealed Booster Box at auction for a new record of $408,000 on January 15.

The new year brings new highs as another sealed Pokemon TCG 1st Edition Base Set sold for an astronomical number, beating out the $360,000 sale that happened in November (see "Heritage Auctions Sets a New Record Sale Price for a Sealed 'Pokemon 1st Edition' Booster Box"). This most recent sale represents a doubling in value of the same booster box since August 26 (see "Heritage Auctions Offers First Edition Sealed 'Pokemon' Box, High-Grade Video Games, and Lower Grade Bucket-List Comics at Their September Auction"). Needless to say, the Pokemon TCG sealed market remains red hot, the uptrend continues, and it has yet to see a plateau.

Alongside the sale of this box, a few singles card sales yielded notable numbers. A  PSA Gem Mint 10 Charizard #4 Rare Hologram Trading Card from the Pokemon TCG First Edition Base Set was sold for $300,000, which is actually down from a recent eBay sale of $350,100 (see "Gem Mint 10 'Pokemon TCG' Charizard #4 Hologram Card Hits the Heritage Auction Block in January "). However, a CGC NM/Mint+ 8.5 Pokemon Blastoise #009/165R Commissioned Presentation Galaxy Star Hologram (Wizards of the Coast, 1998) went for $360,000. This piece was commissioned by Cartamundi as presentation piece, and there are only two in existence.
