The holiday season is upon us, and the Hollywood news is rolling in.  Time for a round-up!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won the domestic box office for the third weekend running, with a $64 million take for the five-day Wednesday through Sunday holiday span, according to Deadline.  The film has now grossed $367.6 million domestically and $675.6 million worldwide.  Disney Animation’s Strange World can be safely described as a bomb, with $18.6 million domestically over the long holiday weekend, and $27.8 million worldwide.

Marvel Studios has found a new director and writer for their Blade movie, according to Deadline.  Yann Demange will replace Bassam Tariq as director, and Michael Starrbury will write a new script for the movie.  Tariq left the film due to continued shifts in the movie's production schedule, but will stay on the film as an executive producer (see "'Blade' Loses Director").

20th Century Studios released two new trailers for Avatar: The Way of Water (see trailers below).  This long-awaited sequel by James Cameron heads to theaters on December 16, 2022 (see "2022").

Harrison Ford will receive a little help going from age 80 to a middle-aged Henry Jones Jr. for the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie's opening sequence, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The opening sequence will be set in 1944, shortly after the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Lucasfilm plans to use de-aging technology to depict Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in his prime, fighting Nazis.  This sequence will likely employ a number of wide-angle shots involving body doubles for action sequences combined with old footage of Ford, which will be CGI-fitted for shots of his face.  A similar "de-aging" sequence was shot for that last episode of The Mandalorian S2 (see "'The Mandalorian' Trailer S2"), where CGI was used to depict a young Luke Skywalker dismantling a brigade of Dark Troopers.

Millie Gibson has been cast as the new Doctor Who companion, the BBC announced.  She will play Ruby Sunday, who will be the companion counterpart to the fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa (see "'Doctor Who' Announced").  Gatwa will take over after three specials in late 2023 starring Tenth Doctor David Tennant (see "Doctor Who to Disney+").

WarnerMedia has confirmed that Diane Ademu-John has exited HBO Max's Dune: Sisterhood series as a co-showrunner, according to Variety.  Ademu-John is also the creator and writer of this series, and will remain on as an executive producer.  This is the second showrunner to leave this series since it entered development (see "Showrunner Off 'Dune: Sisterhood'").
