Abrams ComicArts, in its first list as a full division of the company (see "Abrams ComicArts To Go to Division"), and Abrams Fanfare, the new graphic novel imprint of Abrams Children’s Books (see "Book Houses Bet on Kids"), will release Marvel, Cormac McCarthy, and Thomas Piketty graphic novels, along with other major releases for Fall 2024. Here are some of the bigger titles:
Drafted, a graphic memoir by Rick Parker, tells the story of the author’s experience after getting drafted into the U.S. Army at the height of the Vietnam war. The 240-page color hardcover with jacket will be released in September at $24.99.
The Road: A Graphic Novel Adaptation, which adapts the Pulitzer Prize-winner by Cormac McCarthy, was authorized by McCarthy before his death and approved by the McCarthy estate. The art for the postapocalyptic tale of a father and his son is by famed French artist Manu Larcenet. The hardcover with jacket will be released in September at $24.99.
Capital & Ideology: A Graphic Novel Adaptation is a very different kind of adaptation; this one adapts renowned economist Thomas Piketty’s volume using a family saga to tell the story. Piketty called the result a "magnificent adaptation." The text is adapted by Claire Alet, with art by Benjamin Adam. The paperback with flaps will be released in September at $22.99.
Spider-Man: A Mighty Marvel Team-Up Box Set, under the new Abrams Fanfare imprint, is a set of the three team-up graphic novels written and illustrated by Mike Maihack. Shipping in October for the holidays, the box set of three hardcover volumes will retail for $39.99.
