The spread between Marvel and DC reached 17.3 share points, the biggest we found looking back a year. In Q1 2023, the spread was only 11 share points (see "Comic Store Market Shares – Q1 2023").
Marvel got a strong boost from its Ultimate Universe relaunch (see "New Marvel Ultimate Universe Title Announced"), and Image Comics ticked up a bit with help from the Energon Universe titles, the Spawn #350 issue, and the first Ghost Machine title (see "New Creator-Owned and Operated Media Company").
BOOM! Studios’ share is at 3.3% in Q1, less than it was for the past year; it had a 4,7% share in Q1 2023. Most of the other publishers had only small changes in market share percentage, but that was enough to reorder the chart, with BOOM! Studios moving from fourth in Q4 2023 to sixth place and Titan Comics moving up to ninth.
