Paradox Interactive is setting up a revived White Wolf entity that will take tabletop RPG development in-house, the company announced. The reorganization will rebrand Paradox’s World of Darkness, which publishes videogames based on the properties, as White Wolf, the legacy name of the properties’ publisher. As part of the reorganization, White Wolf and Paradox Interactive will co-publish the upcoming videogame Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines 2.
The newly constituted White Wolf entity, led by World of Darkness Executive Vice President Marco Behrman, Brand Marketing Manager Jason Carl, and Director of Licensing Nikola Filipov, will oversee products across videogames, tabletop RPGs, board games, streaming shows, and other expressions of the property.
Paradox acquired White Wolf from CCP Games in 2015 (see “White Wolf Publishing Acquired by Paradox Interactive”), and set up an in-house TTRPG publishing operation, which launched the Fifth Edition of the Vampire: The Masquerade in 2018 (see “’Vampire: The Masquerade' 5E”).
In 2018, Paradox reversed course, and ended White Wolf as a separate operation (see “Paradox Takes Over White Wolf Management”).
Renegade Game Studios was named the tabletop RPG publishing partner for the World of Darkness properties in 2020 (see “Renegade Is TTRPG Partner for World of Darkness”). Renegade will release Hunter: The Reckoning: Apostate (see “’Apostate’”) and Vampire: The Masquerade: In Memoriam (see “’In Memoriam’”), in June.
“Establishing a dedicated publishing wing for our internally developed tabletop roleplaying games strengthens our already successful licensing business,” Berhrman said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “This lets us develop both classic and new IPs faster and with a clearer long-term transmedia vision, always in collaboration with our passionate fans and partners.”
