Sony has agreed to acquire 16 million shares of Bandai Namco, which is worth about $459 million (converted from Yen); Sony will then own a 2.5% stake. The new alliance will result in more anime and merch based on Bandai properties, some joint development and promotion of anime and manga, and collaboration on experiential entertainment, the companies said. Anime from the alliance will likely hit the U.S. through Sony subsidiary Crunchyroll (see "Crunchyroll").
