This week’s home entertainment releases include the action-packed Pacific Rim: Uprising, a Steven Soderbergh film that was shot entirely on a iPhone, and my favorite film of the year so far, a wickedly dark satire from the creator of Veep that is based on a French graphic novel about the power struggle following the death of Stalin, plus the final season of the sci-fi series Dark Matter, and a new high-def restoration of the classic Tom Baker Doctor Who episodes.

Two things that haven’t been happening with much regularity came together in comic stores in May, as comics and graphic novel sales rose for a second straight month, and Marvel had a dominant month.

While there are no big names in this week’s home entertainment releases there are a lot of decent offerings including John Francis Daley’s black comedy Game Night, a sexy Jennifer Lawrence espionage film, the delightful Nick Park stop motion-animated Early Man, Todd Haynes’ unjustly neglected Wonderstruck, plus the heavily-populated DC cartoon series Justice League Action , and the popular Nickelodeon hit, The Loud House.
