Later this month Elfin Werks plans to release a new version of Walter Obert’s Strada Romana board game (MSRP $50.00).  This version, which is currently in transit from Germany, features a newly revised rulebook and extremely high quality components.  Set in the bustling heart of what was a powerful empire built on trade, Strada Romana is the game of clever merchants and swift wagon-masters.

Players in Strada Romana take on the role of Roman “mercators” as they race heavily laden carriages along the Roman road linking the eternal city with the port of Ostia Portus.  Along the way they must conduct shrewd traders with various shopholders, fend off rivals, and endure the occasional traffic jam.

Designed for 2-5 players, ages eight and up, Strada Romana is a fast moving game that can be played in 45 minutes.  The deluxe European-style board game includes a mounted game board, 10 stand-up wagons with bases, 36 wooden cubes, 36 wooden tiles, 10 wagon tiles, 40 wooden tokens, a cloth bag, and a full color rulebook with rules in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
