Viz has been notifying a number of its direct customers that it plans to close their accounts by the end of the year. Originally, the plan was to eliminate all of its customers for paper products except Diamond, Publishers Group West (its distributor to the book trade), and Curtis (for magazines). U.S. distributors that would be affected include FM International, Cold Cut, and Last Gasp. Recently Viz has agreed to reconsider the distributor portion of its change in policy (meaning that it would continue to sell to the aforementioned distributors), but definitely plans to implement the retailer portion.
