The Cartoon Network has finally released the start date of the new ThunderCats animated series, which will debut on Friday, July 29th at 8pm (ET, PT).  The following week on August 5th the show will assume its regular continuing timeslot at 8:30 pm (ET, PT) on Friday nights. 

 

The new ThunderCats series, which is being produced in Japan by Studio 4C, is based on the hit 1980s Saturday morning cartoon series that spawned loads of comic books, toys, and other tie-in merchandise.  The original 1980s ThunderCats was also animated in Japan, but the new series has a more modern, anime-influenced look (see “New ThunderCats Series Reveals Its Anime Roots”).
