Comic-Con News: In its first SDCC announcement Dynamite Entertainment reveals that horror comics specialist Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) will completely reboot Dynamite’s flagship Army of Darkness comic book series. The new horror/action comic will be entitled Ash and the Army of Darkness and will be replete with dark comedy elements along with the bone-chilling horror for which Niles is justly famous.
Niles was enthusiastic about the prospects of his new assignment, "What I am doing with Army of Darkness is a complete reboot. We start with the final frame of the Army of Darkness film and go right from there. I think it’s a wild ride and I think fans of the film will be happy because I am bringing back a lot of what made the movie so much fun. My run of Ash and the Army of Darkness takes place almost entirely in the 1300’s setting. That’s what made the Army of Darkness movie stand apart."
As denoted by having his name about the title, t he smart-mouthed, time-traveling, demon-fighting Ash Williams remains the focus of Nile’s rebooted Army of Darkness comic. Look for more details about the new series to be released in the coming weeks.
