The Myth cooperative fantasy game from MERCS Miniatures/Megacon Games, which raised over $925,000 on Kickstarter last April and for a time held a spot on ICv2’s Top 10 Tabletop Kickstarter chart (see "Top 10 Tabletop Game Kickstarters"), is currently shipping to backers, and is planned for trade release in May.
The game features high quality miniatures and has players take the role of one of five heroes who are working together to defeat the Darkness. Each hero has a different skill set represented by a deck of cards. Players create their own stories through traps, trials, and tests, crafting unique myths with their tales. The game is for 2 – 5 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 120 minutes. MSRP on the base game is $90.00.
The box contains 5 hero boards, 1 Darkness board, 10 double-sided realm tiles, 41 plastic miniatures, 15 dice, 300+ cards, 300+ tokens, and a rulebook. The game is expandable through additional miniatures packs (MSRP $20.00-$25.00), and there are plans to release quest and item card decks, and an alternate game mode.
The company is currently running another Kickstarter to fund MERCS: Recon, a stand-alone game set in its MERCS universe. The game has netted $380,000 from over 2,250 backers as of this writing, and the project will be funded on April 18th.
