Geister, Geister, Schatzsuchmeister! was named winner for the Kinderspiel des Jahres, the Best Children’s Game category in the prestigious German game design competition over the weekend.
The game is designed by Brian Yu (Desert Bazaar) and published in German by Mattel. The game casts players as daring treasure hunters, out to find eight precious jewels hidden in a haunted house. Players must work together to acquire all eight jewels and escape the house before the ghosts‘ numbers grow enough to reach critical 'haunting' level and lead to the players’ demise.
The game is for 2-4 pages, ages 7 and up, and plays in 30 minutes. It does not currently have an North American publisher.
The Spiel des Jarhres (Game of the Year) and Kennerspiel des Jahres (Connoisseur-Enthusiast Game of the Year) will be announced on July 14 in Berlin. For full listing of 2014 Spiel des Jahres nominees, see "2014 'Spiel des Jahres' Nominations."
