The Gundam Website, Gunota Headlines, has listed the winners of the Fifth Annual Tokyo Anime Awards, which were presented at the recently concluded Tokyo International Anime Fair.  The Full Metal Alchemist movie, FMA: The Conqueror of Shambala received the highest award, 'Animation of the Year,' while Eureka 7 topped the Television category, Detective Conan: Strategy Above the Depths took home top honors in the Feature Film category and Karas (available here from Manga Entertainment) claimed the prize as the top OAV.  The Incredibles was named the top Overseas Feature Film and veteran director Yoshiyuki Tomino was honored as Best Director for his work on Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: Heirs to the Stars.

In addition to topping the TV category, Eureka 7 (released in the U.S. by Bandai Entertainment) earned its creators a couple of individual awards -- Dai Sato took the Best Screenplay trophy and Kenichi Yoshida nabbed the Best Character Design award.  The Anime News Network is reporting that the Eureka 7 anime series will debut on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in April (though the banner announcing the series' debut is no longer on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim Website).  In any case it is clear that Eureka 7, which Bandai is releasing in both anime and manga formats in April (see 'Coordinated Launch for Eureka 7') is clearly a property that bears watching.
