Melissa McCarthy has signed on to headline Paul Feig’s remake of Ghostbusters. The long awaited reboot of the Ghostbusters property will feature an all-female Ghostbusters team (see "'Bridesmaids' Helmer Rebooting 'Ghosbusters' With All-Female Cast"). If Feig gets his way the Ghostbusters team will include Saturday Night Live veteran Kristen Wiig, and current SNL cast members Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon along with McCarthy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy has already signed on and Sony is in negotiations with Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. Wiig, who worked with Feig in Bridesmaids, has a developed a solid film career since leaving SNL. Current SNL cast member Jones has a role in Chris Rock’s Top Five that is in theaters now, while McKinnon is one of the most talented actors in the history of SNL (she is consistently funny, and her "Justin Bieber" is the highlight of the current season so far).
