Ninja Division announced the game at last year’s Gen Con (see “Ninja Division Announces 'Ninja All-Stars'”), which is the company’s first internally designed and published product since separating from former publishing partner CoolMiniOrNot (see “Soda Pop Minis and CoolMiniOrNot End Publishing Deal”), with who it partnered on Relic Knights.
The miniatures board game casts 2-4 players in the role of rival ninja clan leaders, out to earn the favor of the Moon Princess by competing in a series of league-style challenges against each other. Between challenges, ninja can earn experience to gain new abilities. Clan leaders attempt to grow their team’s prowess, while also hiring powerful Heroes and Ronin to add to their clan. The box will contain 12 elemental battle dice, 24-page team scroll tablet, counters and game tokens, 24 miniatures, team roster reference cards, 60-card Moon card deck, a quad-fold, double sided game board, and a 48-page rule book. The main boxed game will be supplemented by multiple clan box releases with additional ninja and heroes to collect, and expanded content will also support game play with organized play instruction to run leagues and events.
The game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, and surpassed its $70,000 funding goal in less than 24 hours. The campaign has raised $125,779 from 1,100 backers ($114.34/backer average) as of this writing. The campaign runs through April 20. Backer fulfillment is planned for December. MSRP and trade release were not announced.
Ninja Division/Soda Pop Miniatures’ previous Kickstarter-funded release, Super Dungeon Explore: Forgotten King, will release to trade next month (see “'Super Dungeon Explore: Forgotten King'”).
