The long-gestating film based on Daniel Clowes’ Wilson graphic novel is on the runway, with stars, a director, and a June shoot in Minneapolis planned.  Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Wild) and Woody Harrelson (Hunger Games, True Detective) have been cast in the lead roles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Craig Johnson, who directed the highly regarded Skeleton Twins (with Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader), is on board to helm the feature.

Clowes wrote the script.

The film has been in the works since at least 2010 with Alexander Payne producing.  He was working on a version of the script and considering directing the film himself at one point (see "Alexander Payne Could Helm 'Wilson'").  Payne is still producing the film.

Drawn & Quarterly published the graphic novel (see "Drawn & Quarterly Publishing Dan Clowes' 'Wilson'"), which won an Eisner award in 2011 (see "2011 Eisner Award Winners").
