Disney has put two more live action adaptations of its animated classics into development, joining a growing slate of such films at the studio.

Bryan Cogman, who’s been a writer, producer, and executive story editor on Game of Thrones, will write a script for Sword in the Stone, according to Hollywood Reporter.  The film will be produced by Brigham Taylor, who’s been a production executive on the Pirates of the Caribbean series, and is an executive producer on next film in the series, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Genies will be an Aladdin prequel, announced as a live action film in development just last week, according to Variety.  It will be written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote Freddy vs. Jason and the Friday the 13th, with Tripp Vinson (Red Dawn, San Andreas) producing.

They join Jungle Book and Beauty in the Beast (see “Disney Stands Down on ‘Tron 3’”), Dumbo (see “Disney Plans ‘Dumbo’”), and others, all following the financially successful Cinderella (see “Girl Power Lifts ‘Cinderella’”), the first in what looks like it will be a long series.
