Fantasy Flight Games will release Under the Pyramids, a new expansion for its cooperative Lovecraftian board game Eldritch Horror, in Q4.

This new expansion reveals a hideous cultist plot to reawaken the dreaded “Dark Pharaoh,” a cruel and ancient ruler who enslaved Egypt millennia ago.  The players must unravel the mysterious cult and put a stop to their plots before the Dark Pharaoh can return.  The action of Under the Pyramids is set in the tumultuous land of Egypt as it struggles under the yoke of British rule.  It centers around Cairo, a crossroads of sorts between modernity and antiquity, where colonial and African cultures collide.

Under the Pyramids includes a new side board with six locations in Egypt and North Africa, including Cairo, Tel El-Amarna, and the Nile River; two new Ancient Ones, each with their own Mystery, Research, and Special Encounters deck; eight new Investigators, with new Assets, Conditions, Spells, and Artifacts; new Gates and Monsters; and rulebook detailing the new elements of the game.  As an expansion, a copy of the Eldritch Horror base game is required to play.  MSRP is $49.95.

Last month, Fantasy Flight released the latest Eldritch Horror expansion Strange Remnants (see “New Expansions for ‘Eldritch Horror’ and ‘Talisman’”).
