We round up the geek film news from the past few days.

Shooting on Suicide Squad (see "'Suicide Squad' Sizzle Reel Released") wrapped this week, and director David Ayer marked the occasion with the release of a photo of the entire cast and crew.  The film is due for release August 5, 2016 (see "Best in Shows--Q3 2016").

Famed horror film-maker Wes Craven passed away Sunday after a battle with brain cancer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The 76-year-old writer/director was working until near the end; he was attached to exec produce a comic adaptation earlier this year (see "Wes Craven on Niles Comic Adaptataion").  Craven was best known for the Nightmare on Elm Street films and Scream franchises.

Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) is in early talks to play a villain in Marvel’s Doctor Strange feature, according to Variety.  He would join Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, and, most recently, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo (see "Chiwetel Ejiofor to Play ‘Baron Mordo'").

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be taking over all IMAX screens in North America, and most IMAX screens worldwide for at least a four-week period, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The last deal for such a broad takeover was for the Hobbit films, according to the report.
