AMC has announced it will air its newest web series, Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 during the Season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead on Sunday October 11.

The 16-part web series is produced by Fear the Walking Dead showrunner and executive producer Dave Erickson and co-executive producer David Wiener, and occurs along a similar timeline to the summer TWD spin-off show (see “'Fear the Walking Dead' Sets Cable Records”).  The story follows a group of passengers on a commercial airplane during the early days of the outbreak, who discover someone is infected.

One of the characters from the web series will join Fear the Walking Dead during the show’s second season, which was announced before the series even premiered (see “'Walking Dead' Spinoff Gets Two Season Order”).

The first installment of the web series will debut on AMC’s website on Sunday, October 4, and then air as promos during two commercial breaks during The Walking Dead Season 6 premiere on Sunday, October 11.  The subsequent episodes of Flight 462, which are less than a minute long each, will debut every Sunday, both online and then as on-air promos during new TWD episodes throughout the season.

AMC ran “webisode” series for The Walking Dead between Season 1 and 2 (“Torn Apart”), 2 and 3 (“Cold Storage”), and 3 and 4 (“The Oath”) to keep fans engaged online during the off-season.
