The Guardians of the Galaxy sequel has cast a relative unknown, Pom Klementieff, in a mystery role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This won't be Klementieff's first time in a comic book movie; her first big break was in Spike Lee's Oldboy. Klementieff was one of the action anchors of that movie, a remake of the critically acclaimed Korean movie Oldboy, which was based on the Japanese manga of the same name (see "'Oldboy' Red-Band Trailer").

She will join Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel in the Guardians sequel, titled Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. The original movie was a surprise hit in 2014, and the second grossing film worldwide that year at $771.5 million (see "Comics Generate 4.6 Billion in 2014").

James Gunn is returning to direct the sequel, scheduled for a May 5, 2017 release. For fans of Star-Lord who can't wait, the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series is currently on the air at Disney XD (see "'Guardians of the Galaxy' NYCC Test Reel").
