Michael Stuhlbarg has joined the cast for Doctor Strange , an announcement coinciding with a new picture showing star Benedict Cumberbatch on set in Nepal.
THR broke the story earlier this week, and now it is known that Stuhlbarg (Hugo, Seven Psychopaths, Men in Black 3) will play Dr. Nicodemus West, the surgeon who performed Dr. Steven Strange’s hand surgery after his car accident. When Strange left for Kamar-Taj, Nicodemus followed him, but missed him by a few days. He also received training in the mystic carts from the Ancient One, but left before completing his training.
Filming has already begun for the movie, as evidenced by this image shared on Twitter, showing a rather scruffy Benedict Cumberbatch in Nepal on the set .
The film will also star Rachel McAdams (see “Rachel McAdams Confirms 'Doctor Strange' Role”), Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen.
Marvel’s new Doctor Strange comic recently launched (see “Preview: 'Doctor Strange' #1”).
The film opens on November 4, 2016.
