ReedPOP and CBS Consumer Products have reached an agreement for ReedPOP to produce Star Trek: Mission New York, a three day event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the property, September 2-4 at the Javits Center in New York City. The brand activation will include interactive exhibits, exclusive merch, celebrity guests, panels, and screenings, as well as "the chance to go beyond panels and autograph signings, and immerse themselves in the Star Trek universe," according to ReedPOP Global Senior Vice President Lance Fensterman.
The Reed Exhibitions division is no stranger to property-specific events; it has managed Star Wars Celebration since the 2010 event (see "Reed Gets Star Wars Celebration”".
New York is no stranger to Star Trek events. It was the site of the first Star Trek convention, which was held January 21 - 23, 1972 at the Statler Hotel. Planned for 500, that original event ended up hosting 3000.
