Fantagraphics announced President Barack Obama has written the introduction for The Complete Peanuts 1999 – 2000 (Vol. 25).

“In his final strip, Charles Schulz wondered how he could ever forget the Peanuts gang,” President Obama writes. "Thanks to this groundbreaking series of books collecting all of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts strips, the rest of us never will…”

“Like millions of Americans, I grew up with Peanuts. But, I never outgrew it.”

The volume will also feature the complete run of Li’l Folks, the weekly one-panel comic that Schulz produced between June 1947, and January 1950.  Li’l Folks served the creative precursor to Peanuts, which debuted on October 2, 1950.

Fantagraphics also announced a 26th volume for the series, releasing in October, which will include Schulz’s non-comic strip-related Peanuts art, including: storybooks, comic book stories, single-panel gags, advertising art, book illustrations, photographs, and more. The afterword for Volume 26 will be written by Jean Schulz.
