Mayfair Games has revealed details and cover art for its jungle-exploration game Costa Rica, scheduled to release in July.
At New York Toy Fair in February, Mayfair Games previewed Costa Rica; Reveal the Rainforest (See “ ‘Fight for Olympus’ and ‘Costa Rica’”). Created by Brett Gilbert and Matthew Dunstan (the team behind Elysium), Costa Rica pits teams of explorers in a race to explore the rainforests of Central America. But “publish or perish” is the unspoken rule, so explorers must balance the rewards of exploring deeper or rushing back to publish the results before the competition can.
Costa Rica combines elements of push-your-luck and set-collection games. The game includes 72 rainforest tiles, 30 explorer markers, and 1 expedition marker. It is designed for 2 to 5 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about half an hour. MSRP is $35.00.
