Portal Games has announced four new titles for 2017:  Alien Artifacts, 51st State: Scavengers, Cry Havoc: Aftermath,  and Stronghold: Undead.

Designed by Marcin Ropka and Viola Kijowska, Alien Artifacts is a 4x style card game. Players take the role of different interplanetary corporations, sending their research vessels into uncharted space.  Players build a ship, research tech, and explore the galaxy for anything or anyone to exploit. The game includes over 200 cards and plays in under an hour. The game will be released at Gen Con 2017. MSRP was not announced.

51st State: Scavengers is the first expansion for Ignacy Trzewiczek’s 51st State Master Set (see “Three Portal Games Titles for 2016”). Scavengers is based on the previous edition’s expansion Ruins, and brings back some of the favorite cards from the original expansion. It also introduces new locations and a new mechanic. In Scavengers players can search the discard pile for valuable locations to leverage for in in their State. Release date and MSRP were not announced.

Cry Havoc: Aftermath is an expansion to Grant Rodiek, Michal Oracz, and Michal Walczak’s  Cry Havoc war game (see “Three Portal Games Titles for 2016”). The expansion adds new skills and structures to the game, adding to more unique re-playability. Each faction receives 5 new skills and 3 new structures. It also introduces an alternate game mode which ensures each game lasts a full 5 rounds. It also introduces new scoring abilities for when an event token is passed, so there are more chances to gain victory points. Release date and MSRP were not announced.

Stronghold: Undead is an expansion for Ignacy Trzewiczek’s siege game Stronghold 2nd Edition (see “'Stronghold 2nd Edition' and 'The Golden Ages' Expansion”). Undead is a rebalanced version of the original Undead expansion. It introduces rules for gathering mana, spell casting, and terror.  There are new buildings and abilities for the Defender, and a new map with new routes for the Attacker. Release date and MSRP were not announced.

Portal will be premiering two games at Essen Spiel this week (see “'Robinson Crusoe' Gets an Upgrade”).
