Four-sided fantasy battles are the theme for Asmodee and design studio Devil Pig’s new card game Kharnage, releasing in the U.S. in Q1.

In Yann & Clem’s (Heroes of Normandie) new card game Kharnage, four typical fantasy races—humans, dwarves, goblins, and orcs—fight over a tiny hill.  But claiming the territory is not the key to victory.  Instead, the goal is to cause as much carnage as possible by inflicting casualties on the other armies.  Each turn, players simultaneously choose their strategy by playing strategy cards which determine turn order, the number of reinforcements added to their army, and what attacks can be launched.  Combat follows a simple strength vs. defense comparison, with casualties awarding the attacker victory points in the form of “skulls,” and bonuses awarded for completely annihilating an enemy army.

Kharnage includes 174 cards and 32 tokens.  It is designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in about 20 minutes.  MSRP is $34.99.

The new card game joins other planned Q1 North American releases from Asmodee, including Braintopia (see “Players Get a Mental Workout in New Asmodee Game”) and the deduction game Watson & Holmes (see “Be the First to Solve the Mystery in ‘Watson & Holmes’”).
