Peter Capaldi is leaving Doctor Who after this season, ending with the Christmas Special, he announced today. This 10th Series marks his third season on the show; he joined in 2013 (see "The New Doctor Announced"). "From our brilliant crew and creative team working for the best broadcaster on the planet, to the viewers and fans whose endless creativity, generosity and inclusiveness points to a brighter future ahead. I can’t thank everyone enough,” Capaldi said. "It’s been cosmic."
The season also marks the end of showrunner Stephen Moffat’s tenure on Doctor Who; the only holdover may be Pearl Mackie, who joined as companion for this season (see "'Doctor Who' Trailer Introduces New Companion").
