Bill Rice of Curious Comics in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada) writes in to comments on Target shutting down their Canadian operations (see "Target Giving Up on Canada").
It was not a huge surprise to hear of Target's hasty departure from the Canadian retail scene. They opened less than two years ago with a great deal of hype, which they were unable to live up to. Their shelves were half empty and prices were not comparable to what was expected. I think they badly misjudged the competitive climate in Canada and the strength of established local chains. It's too bad they could not have given it a longer try, but I believe in most Canadians' opinions they will not be missed.
