Jim Hanley, founder of JH Universe, comments on Rob Salkowitz's recent column about the influence Denis Kitchen has had on the comics industry (see "As Comics Icon Denis Kitchen Celebrates a Major Milestone, a Look Back at His Influence on the Business").
Bravo, Rob Salkowitz. Denis Kitchen has been a friend to creators and lovers of comics for a half-century or more. It's good to be reminded of all of his other good works for retailers, too. While many of us were wringing our hands about the bust of one of Friendly Frank's store manager, Michael Correa, Denis organized what became more than just help for Michael Correa. It became the now-permanent Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Despite his seminal role as the founder and initial President of CBLDF, I don't think Denis has never received sufficient recognition for that. So, thanks, Rob, for reminding us of how important and generous Denis always was with his time, devotion to comics, and (of course) his great taste.
Here's to you, Denis Kitchen, a man for all comics seasons.
