Confessions of a Comic Book Guy is a weekly column by Steve Bennett of Super-Fly Comics and Games in Yellow Springs, Ohio. This week, Bennett shares his grief at the loss of longtime comic retailer Mary Alice Wilson (see "R.I.P. Mary Alice Wilson").
I'm sorry to have to report the January 31 passing of Mary Alice Wilson, one of the first female comic shop retailers and owner of Dark Star Books in Yellow Springs, Ohio. I worked for her there, off and on, for well over two decades, along with running the satellite store Dark Star III, and everything I know about retailing I learned from her. I will always be grateful for the patience she showed me, appreciative of the many opportunities she gave me, and thankful for making a life in comics, surrounded by the things I love, possible. She will be sorely missed.
