DC Unlimited, the new 3D brand launched by DC Comics, has announced the acquisition of the license to produce action figures, busts and statues based on Studio Gonzo's Afro Samurai anime series, which debuted on the Spike TV cable network on January 4th.  DC Unlimited, which licenses pop culture products from outside DC universe and distributes them to all channels (see 'DC Unlimited Goes Beyond DC Direct') will offer the Afro Samurai collectibles in U.S. and Canada with the first series of items available for viewing at the New York International Toy Fair this weekend.  DC Unlimited plans on shipping the first series of Afro Samurai collectibles to retailers in the fall of 2007.

The DC Unlimited Afro Samurai collectibles will include fully articulated 6.75' and 14' action figures, resin busts and statues--all spotlighting the characters from the popular anime. The first wave of figures will contain Afro Samurai, his sidekick Ninja Ninja and his deadly adversaries Kuma and Justice.  With a mix of two sizes of action figures (regular and deluxe) as well as busts and statues DC Unlimited's Afro Samurai offerings mirror the formats announced for the DC Unlimited World of Warcraft collectibles.
