DrMaster Publications has announced the May release of The Art of Yasushi Suzuki, a showcase for nearly 100 images from the renowned videogame designer.  'D-Suzuki,' as he is known to gamers, has developed a major reputation in the world of videogames and this volume, which features art from Sega's Ikaruga, Nintendo's Sin & Punishment and the cover art to the Japanese edition of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice, demonstrates his considerable illustrative skills.

Suzuki is currently engaged in creating art for Purgatory Kabuki, a samurai manga set in the afterlife whose hero must collect the swords of a 1,000 fallen warriors to return to the realm of the living (see 'DrMaster Signs Vid-Game Designer for Manga').  The Art of Yasushi Suzuki includes a preview of Purgatory Kabuki as well as interviews of the artist from IGN.com, PULSE, and insertcredit.com.  Dave Halverson, Editior-in-Chief of Play Magazine, provides the foreword.

Videogames are generally under-rated as sales drivers for anime and manga properties, but the popularity of manga such as Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry and Warcraft: Sunwell Trilogy all testify to the sales power of manga with strong video game connections.
