Chronicle Books announced its fall releases including The Art of Beowulf, featuring concept art from the upcoming film; and The DC Comics Action Figures Archive, which shows more than 1,400 action figures.  

 

The Art of Beowulf has a preface from director Robert Zemeckis, a foreword by Neil Gaiman and features production designs and concept art from Doug Chiang's studio (Robota, Star Wars: Episode 1, War of the Worlds).  Due out in September, The Art of Beowulf will come as a 160-page full-color hardcover, and lists for $40.

 

The DC Comics Action Figures Archive by collector Scott Beatty with help from DC Comics, is considered the definitive reference for DC action figures. Presented in user-friendly alphabetical order, the guide includes release dates, variants and recodes, scales and articulation points.  The hardcover DC Comics Action Figures will be 208 pages, list for $40 and is due out in November.

 

Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters (Defending the Earth with Ultraman, Godzilla, and Friends in the Golden Age) will be available in October. Author August Ragone presents the first English language book to focus on the life and work of Tsuburaya, the visual effects expert behind many famous Tokyo movie monsters.  Master of Monsters will be 192-page hardcover featuring 150 b/w and color images and will sell for $40 retail.

 

The Art of Bee Movie from animation expert Jerry Beck features more than 300 images of sketches, digital paintings, and clay models from the upcoming Dreamworks and Jerry Seinfeld animated feature, Bee Movie.  Humorous comments are sprinkled throughout the 160-page full-color hardcover from Seinfeld and the artists. Bee Movie will be available in October and lists for $40.

 

Chronicle is also presenting To Infinity and Beyond! The Story of Pixar Animation Studio in October, which will have forewords from John Lasseter, Ed Catmull, and Steve Jobs.  To Inifinity and Beyond! follows Pixar from its beginnings as George Lucas' 'Computer Division' to its merger with Disney with commentary from Pixar staff, voice talent, and industry insiders and illustrated with concept art, internal memos and snapshots. The full-color hardcover will be 304 pages and list for $75.
