Richard Newman of Pet Shop Comics and Collectibles in Lousville, Kentucky saw WizKids' response to broken street dates on ActionClix (see 'WizKids Responds to Broken Street Date') and says that early release crowds hobby retailers out of the market:

Target stores here in Louisville, Kentucky broke the street date on ActionClix as well, selling product as early as a week before the release date.

As a small business, we can't possibly compete with the dollars that mega-corporations like Target have available.  It just crowds us out of the market.  However, you can't play the games in Target stores, so WizKids throws us the left-over scraps, as usual.  It's a typical representation of the inherent disdain that WizKids has for the independent specialty retailer.
