American audiences are familiar with most of the properties Viz Media is showcasing at MIPCOM next week such as Bleach, Mar, and Death Note, but not necessarily with Kirari, the title Viz has assigned to the Kirarin Revolution anime series.  The anime series, which has already reached 78 episodes in Japan, is based on the 10-volume (and counting) manga by An Nakahara, published in Shogakukan's Ciao shojo anthology since March of 2004.

The heroine of Kirari is a cute 14-year-old girl, who is obsessed with food, not guys, until she meets a handsome boy name Seiji, who just happens to be part of the pop idol group SHIPS.  Though she is just an average girl, with the help of her very talented cat Na-san, she determines to become an idol herself so she can meet Seiji on common ground.

So far Viz Media has made no announcements concerning the release of either the Kirari manga or anime series here in North America, but the property is a perfect fit for both Viz Media's Shojo Beat manga imprint and Shojo Beat Home Video line.
