Shout! Factory has announced the January 22nd release for Swamp Thing: The Series, a 4-DVD collection of the first 22 episodes of the television series based on the DC Comic, which appeared on the USA Network from 1990-1993.  The TV series, which was produced at Universal Studios in Florida, followed two live action Swamp Thing movies the first of which was produced in 1982 and directed by Wes Craven, while the second appeared in 1989.  Both the movies and the TV series featured actor/stuntman Dick Durock as the eco-friendly creature.  Durock and Swamp Thing co-creator Len Wein are interviewed for one of the DVD set's bonus features.

The Swamp Thing: The Series DVD Boxset (MSRP $39.99) presents the first 22 episodes in the order in which they were meant to be seen.  Since there were 72 episodes, there should be several additional box set releases of this series, which has developed a cult-like following thanks to repeated showings on the Sci Fi Channel.

In addition to the Swamp Thing live action movies and the TV series, there was a short-lived cartoon series, which aired for five episodes on the Fox Network and has also been rerun on the Sci Fi Channel.
