Pixar's Ratatouille won the Oscar for 'Best Animated Feature,' beating out Persepolis and Surf's Up.  Ratatouille, which was nominated in five different categories including 'Best Screenplay' and 'Best Score,' took home just the 'Best Animated Feature Award.' The Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men took home the coveted 'Best Picture' award and the brothers earned both the 'Best Adapted Screenplay' and 'Best Director' awards, while Javier Bardem won 'Best Supporting Actor' for his chilling portrayal of the assassin Anton Chigurh in the film.  Robert Elswit's work on Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood earned him the award for 'Best Cinematography' and Daniel Day-Lewis won 'Best Actor' for his performance in the film.  Marion Cotillard won best actress for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose.

New Line's The Golden Compass won the Oscar for 'Best Visual Effects' where it beat out Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.  Other than a trio of technical awards for The Bourne Ultimatum ('Editing,' 'Sound Editing,' and 'Sound Mixing')--Diablo Cody's 'Best Original Screenplay' award for Juno and Ratatouille's 'Best Animated Feature' nod were the only Oscars that went to films that earned over $100 million at the domestic box office.
