The Top 10 Cool products are ICv2's projections of the top dollar products actually sold by pop culture stores in February, based on a sample that reports to us. Toys
High price point products totally dominated this list for February, a surprising trend given the weaker spending that's typically the case in pop culture stores in February. In fact, the Simpsons Celebrity Figures at the bottom of the list were the only action figures this month. Spots 1 through 9 were occupied by products at higher end prices ranging from $39.95 to $269. The score on this list was five Marvel products from three manufacturers to four DC products, all from DC Direct. Click here for the Top 10 Cool Toys.
Anime
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust took the number 1 slot in February, behind a theatrical release that played in about fifty theaters in North America (see 'Vampire Hunter D Coming in February'). The Urban Vision/Madhouse production is a US/Japanese collaboration. Robotech took the next three slots, continuing a strong run for this property. An eclectic mix made up rest of the list. Games
LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring Boosters continued to hold the #1 slot for the third straight month. In fact, only three new items appeared on the February list -- Magic: the Gathering: Torment Decks and Boosters and Pokemon: Neo Destiny Boosters. All the rest were repeat winners, and most were CCGs -- no RPGs made our list this month. Click here for the Top 10 Cool Games.
Comics
It's rare for a comic product to appear twice on our chart, and even rarer that it's #1 both months, but that's what happened with Dark Knight Strikes Again #2. Marvel had seven of the remaining spots, with double issues on two books that had been shipping behind schedule making up four of those titles. The power of a milestone issue and a higher cover price (plus following the 10 Cent Batman promotion last month) brought Batman #600 in at #5. A new Just Imagine with Stan Lee and John Byrne rounded out the list. Click here for the Top 10 Cool Comics.
Movie/TV Products
TV Trading Cards took four of the Top 10 Cool Movie/TV Product slots, with Inkworks' X-Files Season 8 winning the category. SimpsonsMania! Trading Cards from Inkworks made a rare (for this category) appearance for a second straight month. Four retro TV DVDs (Space: 1999 and Secret Agent) and two movie DVDs made up the rest of the list.
