John Gavin of York Comics & Cards in Parma, Ohio has been following the retailer comments about Tuesday deliveries (see “Kirby Tardy of Tardy's Collectors Corner on Tuesday Delivery”) and agrees that getting shipments one day earlier “would be less stressful:”

I, like many other of my fellow retailers, go to UPS on Wednesday morning to pick up my order.  This takes about an hour out of my day.  I could probably deal with that, if all I had to do was pick up the order, take it back to the store and display it.

The problem I have is one I'm sure all retailers who have a POS system have to deal with. Diamond, which is pushing all retailers to change to a POS system, does not provide barcodes in their order program for all items.  The biggest offenders are Marvel and DC. None of their trades are in the Diamond program with the correct bar code.  For retailers that do not use a POS system, this means that I have to go into my program and enter the bar codes for all items that don't have one in the order program.  I also have to check each comic book title to make sure I have the correct bar codes.  With some publishers, such as Archie, I have a bar code but it is not the correct one.  This means that before I open, I have to check the bar codes on every product I received.  This is usually over 100 items.

Tuesday delivery would make it less stressful than Wednesday delivery.  I also don't worry about my competitors abusing the system.  There are four major stores on our side of town.  We all have known each other for years.  We all pick up on Wednesday at UPS, so we talk to each other and are friendly with each other.
