Image Comics and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund announced at the ComicsPro annual meeting last weekend that Image will expand its support of the Fund in the coming year, through a second volume of its successful Liberty Comics anthology (see “Liberty Comics Raises $27k for the CBLDF”) and a series of high end variant covers.
The high profile creators for Liberty Comics #2 will be announced this summer, with release planned for October.
The CBLDF Liberty Series of variant cover editions will be launched this summer, with variant cover editions, sold at a slightly higher price, of Image’s most popular books. The Liberty Series editions will be sold as separate line items, allowing both fans and retailers to support the Fund with their purchases.
CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein praised Image for its past and future support. “Image Comics has been extraordinary in their support of the CBLDF,” he said. “As a corporate member, they are one of the pillars of the business community who support the Fund’s work. With Liberty Comics and the new Liberty Series of covers, they are increasing their support in a way that will ensure we are able to continue to perform our legal work, and expand our education mission in new directions. We are grateful to Image Comics, its partners, and creators for lending such extraordinary support to the CBLDF.”
