Devil’s Due will produce a four-issue comic miniseries based on the upcoming Starz TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand.  The comic series will launch with a variant edition at San Diego Comic-Con, followed by the release of the first issue to stores in October.  The comic miniseries will feature four self-contained stories that intertwine with the show’s continuity.   

The show’s writer and executive producer Steven S. DeKnight will contribute to the comic series, as well as Jimmy Palmiotti and Devil’s Due President Josh Blaylock.

The TV show launches in January of 2010, starring Andy Whitfield in the title role, with John Hannah and Lucy Lawless also starring.  In addition to DeKnight (Buffy, Smallville, Dollhouse), Rob Tapert (Xena, Hercules, The Grudge) and Joshua Donen (The Quick and the Dead) will executive produce.
