Image Comics is planning the September 30th launch of the first issue of Sky Pirates of Neo Terra, which sets the stage for the Nintendo DS racing game from Day 21 Studios and Big Sandwich Games, which is due out in the fall.  Camilla D’Errico (Burn), who supplied the manga-influenced character designs for the video game, is illustrating the five-issue mini-series, which is being written by Josh Wagner and Sky Pirates game creator Sean Megaw.

Sky Pirates of Neo Terra, which borrows some sky surfing elements from anime like Eureka 7, is set on a world devastated by a global catastrophe where peace between the tribes is kept through a tradition Glidewing racing with an annual Great Race where the winner of five consecutive heats selects the leader for the tribal council.
